Sound Off TestimoniesSound off graphic

Parkview Bible Fellowship recently held a youth event using the Love INC Sound Off for Poverty toolkit as their focus.  As the kids committed to a media fast, raising money for Love INC, they participated in some community projects, doing yard work for people in need.  Below are a few of their personal testimonies about this event.

“The media fast has taught me to rely more on God than on technology.  As I stopped being in constant communication with people, I felt a better communication with God.  This irony helped me to also focus more on God, than on myself. “  Alyssa

“I really enjoyed seeing my reaction to the media fast.  It was fun to tell my friends what I was doing and to see their reactions.  It really made me realize how much we use media every day and how much we take it for granted.”  Callie

“I learned how we have so much and they have so little.  I also learned how they barely get by with very little electricity.  My experience was cool and I think communities should do stuff like this more often.”  Bryan

“I learned that I was a lot more blessed and spoiled than I realized.  All of the “extra” things I have I take for granted all the time.  I found myself really bored without TV or music and it was really difficult to get a hold of people without my cell phone.  I realized that people living in poverty not only don’t get to have these luxuries, but the basic needs like a bed, food, or even homes.  After experiencing this, I am going to do my best to never take the things I have for granted.”  Kelsey
