“PACKED WITH LOVE” BACKPACK PROGRAM
Churches, businesses and civic groups came together and donated over $3,000 that Love INC used to purchase over 500 backpacks for schoolchildren. Twenty-five churches stepped up to fill the backpacks with essential school supplies and placed them in local elementary schools around the valley from Boise to Homedale.
“This is a great way to involve church members in their local community in practical ways, helping children who would otherwise be unable to participate fully in the learning process. The children are surprised and excited when their teachers present them with a brand new backpack filled with pens, pencils, paper, all the things their parents cannot afford. To them it’s like Christmas and they no longer feel like the odd ones out,” said a Love INC member of staff.
This community effort does not go unnoticed by the teachers. In the words of one principal who sent a thank-you note to Love INC: “Dear Love INC of Treasure Valley, Thank you so much for the backpacks that you provided for our students! Your kindness and generosity is very much appreciated!”
In addition to supplying schools, Love INC was able to help 13 families in the New Hope Relational Program where clients learn budgeting principles and other life skills over a period of a year. One budget client’s daughter wrote: “I want to start off saying thank you. You guys have been great to my family. You’ve helped us through a lot. I also want to thank you for all my school supplies this year. I was truly blessed. Thank you so much, keep shining in the Lord’s heart. God bless all of you working at Love INC.”
